I have applied for VAT registration (Gujarat) and got a number successfully. Now, my query is that are they going to send me a Hard Copy of the Original Document as Certificate or do I have to download it from the concerned website?? I have tried searching a link to download it but could not find it. Also, let me know if I want to purchase goods from outside Gujarat (say frm Rajasthan) paying 5% of CST, can I sell the same goods in Gujarat for charging 5% Vat ?? IMP - I do not have or applied for CST yet. Its important so kindly advise ASAP. Many Thanks.
Congrats on getting your VAT registration number for Gujarat.
### About the VAT Certificate hard copy:
* Usually, the tax department **does not send a physical hard copy** of the VAT registration certificate by post. * You typically need to **download the VAT certificate online** from the respective state’s commercial tax or VAT portal. * Since you mentioned you couldn’t find the download link, here’s what you can do:
* Visit the official Gujarat Commercial Tax Department website. * Log in with your credentials or VAT registration number. * Look for options like “Download VAT Registration Certificate” or “Print Registration Certificate.” * If you still can’t find it, contact the state VAT department helpline or visit the nearest commercial tax office to get help.
### Regarding purchasing goods from outside Gujarat and CST/VAT:
* CST (Central Sales Tax) is applicable on interstate sales. * If you are purchasing goods from Rajasthan and paying 5% CST, **you are an unregistered dealer under CST because you have not applied for CST registration**. * Now, selling those goods inside Gujarat:
* Since you have VAT registration for Gujarat, **you can sell goods in Gujarat charging 5% VAT** on those goods. * But note that CST and VAT are different taxes with different registration requirements. * Ideally, you should have CST registration if you regularly purchase goods from other states and sell them in Gujarat. * Without CST registration, you may face compliance issues for interstate purchases.
### Summary / What to do next:
* Download your VAT certificate from the official Gujarat Commercial Tax site or contact the office. * Consider applying for CST registration if you regularly buy goods from outside Gujarat. * You can charge 5% VAT inside Gujarat on those goods, but ensure you comply with CST rules for interstate purchase.
If you want, I can help you find the Gujarat VAT portal link or CST registration details.
