Hey! Unfortunately, there is **no official government website** that lets you search or verify a TIN (Taxpayer Identification Number) just by entering the dealer’s name.
TINs are issued by state VAT departments and are unique to each dealer, but the information is not publicly searchable by name for privacy and security reasons.
---
### How to verify TIN or dealer details?
* You can **ask the dealer directly** to provide their TIN and a copy of their VAT registration certificate. * Cross-check their VAT number on your state commercial tax department’s website (some states allow TIN verification if you enter the TIN number). * Some states have portals where you can verify a TIN **if you already have the number** (but not by name). * Also, you can request a **VAT ledger confirmation or VAT returns filed** as proof from the dealer.
---
### Note:
* Beware of fake TINs. * If a dealer does not provide valid TIN or VAT registration proof, you should be cautious about claiming input credit.

If you tell me which state you are in, I can help check if your state’s commercial tax website has any TIN verification tool.
