19 November 2011 Sir what should I do in case of PAN not available from private loading auto person his payment range is Rs. 500/- to 1000/-
and paid by us in case by voucher Now my quation is

First --> Is this payment liable to deduct TDS @ 20%( as PAN not avail) if yes than please tell me any option which will not attract TDS

Second---> Should we pay Service tax on this auto freight in case cash freight exceed 750/-

Also tell me is Ser. tax limit of transport Rs. 750/- on the basis of Per L.R. value or on the basis of Per Invoice Value

19 November 2011 No need to deduct TDS u/s 194c when
-paid less than RS.30000 in single instance
-total of amounts paid or credited during the financial year should not exceed Rs.75,000/-

otherwise you would be liable to deduct tax@20%

and also your total shipment value is between RS.700-1000.

Service tax exempt under GTA
-the gross amount charged on consignments transported in a goods carriage does
not exceed RS.1500.
and
-the gross amount charged on an individual consignment transported on a goods
carriage does not exceed RS.750

your payment cap is below 1500, therefore service tax is not applicable.
