02 July 2011 Suppose I Am a Developer & Builder Who appoint a Contractor under Works Contract Act.

My Question is that

I am liable to Deduct TDS on VAT from the Contractor's payment?

02 July 2011 Generally, your status under VAT law is 'awarder' and every awarder is liable to deduct VAT tax before releasing any payment to the 'contractor'. Pl check your state VAT law to know whether there is an exception to the general rule mentioned above.
