Tds on stipend paid to intern

04 February 2013 ABC Limited has CS Department under which trainees are appointed and paid stipend Rs. 10000 per month. Whether this annual stipend amount Rs. 120000 is subject to TDS? If yes, under which section? Since it is evident that Income Tax Department has clarified that stipend income shall be shown under the head "Income From Other Sources"

04 February 2013 The amount paid to trainees as stipend can worst be treated as Salary and looking to the amount -which is below taxable limit, No TDS is required to be deducted.

05 February 2013 No TDS is required to get deducted .....if salary exceeds 2,00,000 after giving Deduction then TDS is required to get deducted....

05 February 2013 let the stipend be Rs. 250000/-. Now, under which section Tds will get deducted considering it as "Other Income" by the receipient and we can not treat the same as "Salary" under section 192B.
