please anybody tell me urgently, is tds applicable for notary charges paid to advocate?
we have paid rs. 25000 notary charges. is tds applicable and what is the rate

Dear Sumit, According to Sec 194 J , TDS for professional services should be deducted @ 10 % if such fees is likely to exceed Rs 30,000 in a financial year. In your case if it is just Rs 25,000 in a year, then you need not deduct TDS.
Exception: Individuals/ HUF need not deduct TDS for professional services, if they are not liable for tax audit.
