26 April 2009 In the latest circular issued by the department whether the present TDS challan ITNS 281 is replacing by challa no.17 ? Is it applicable from 1-4-'09 onwards? Also to clarify where it will be available , only through site ? What is the new form prescribed as Form 24C ? For which purpose it is to be used?

27 April 2009 For payment of TDS deducted for the FY 2009-10, Form No. 17 is applicable.

It is not a replacement. ITNS 281 is applicable upto FY 2008-09 and Form No. 17 is applicable wef FY 2009-10.

Form No. 17, being an online electronic challan, it will be available through NSDL's site.

Form No. 24C is prescribed for reporting, as the name suggest, quarterly TDS/TCS compliance statement.
