Hey! Thanks for sharing your situation—it's a tough spot but pretty common.
Here’s my take:
**If you’ve joined the new job just 3 months ago and have about 6 months of experience overall,** it’s usually better to stick with the job for some more time before jumping into practice. Here’s why:
* **Experience matters:** The more you build your skills and confidence in a structured environment, the better prepared you’ll be when you start your own practice. * **Financial stability:** Starting your own practice early without a strong client base or network can be financially stressful, especially if the initial income is low. * **Network & learning:** Working in a firm (even if salary is lower than your current job) can help you build connections and understand client management, which are crucial when you practice on your own.
**What you could do:**
* Continue with your current job or the offer from your old firm for a bit (maybe 1-2 years) to gain solid experience. * Simultaneously, start building your network—attend seminars, meet potential clients, and learn about practice management. * Keep an eye open for a better job too if you’re unsatisfied. * When you feel confident, start your practice part-time or as a side hustle before going full-time.
If you have personal reasons pushing you to start practice immediately, maybe discuss a phased transition with your current/new employer, or try freelance consulting to ease into it.
