Hello All,
I've one query related to service tax hope you guys will help me
Can a Private limited company providing taxable service gets its Service Tax registration done at Rs. 2 lakh and start charging service tax once cross the limit of Rs. 10 lakh or they have to charge service tax from the date of registration ??

Dear Mr. Harish
Service Tax liability arises only after crossing the threshold limit given for small scale service provider. Taking registration does not ipso facto make you liable for payment of service tax.
Hence be free till the turnover crosses basic exemption limit of Rs. 10 lakhs.

so sir according to you i can get registration done at 2 lakh & start charging service tax after crossing the value 10 lakh.

Yes, But I dont understand as why you want to get registered if the turnover has not crossed the limit of 9 lakhs!!
Even if you got registered, you can charge service tax after crossing the limit of Rs. 10lakhs.

Actually i want to get service tax credit which i'm paying for services which i'm using as a input, by getting registration done whether i'm eligible for getting input tax credit ??
