A retired individual who sold rural agricultural land for £60 Lakhs is seeking advice on the correct Income Tax Return (ITR) form and how to declare the sale. While the sale of rural agricultural land is generally not taxable, it's crucial to ensure the land meets exemption criteria based on its distance from municipal limits according to the latest census. The advice suggests continuing with ITR 1 and disclosing the gain under exempt income.

I am a retired person and I have been using ITR 1 as less income 50 Lakhs for filing my ITR. Recently, I sold my Rural Village Agricultural Land at 60 Lakhs in FY 2020-21. I wish to know – 1) which ITR form I should use? 2) Where to show in ITR Form as sales of Rural agricultural land not taxable as per Income Tax Rules.
