Service Tax Set-off

18 November 2008 Dear All,

Can the Service Tax paid by a client to his vendors be set off against the service tax which the client claims from his customers?

18 November 2008 For a service provider, all goods except light diesel oils, HSDO, Petrol and motor vehicles used for providing any output services qualifies as input and credit is available.

20 November 2008 Could you please explain a little more in detail please? Thank you..

03 April 2012 The service tax paid by the assessee will be claimed as Input Service Tax and the same shall be set off against the service tax payable.
