dear sir,
one of my friend, he is starting his company ( clearing forwarding agent ) & he want to do registration of service tax my query is
1) can he direct registered for service tax number ( he does not exceed the slab of rs. 9lakh ) becuase he want to raise invoice to his client
2) he has to file ST-1 online ? , or manually
3) what are the charges for registration of of service tax pls reply

i) He can seek registration though with in threshold limit.
ii) Online is mandatory.
iii) No fee is payable to Government for registration.
