Service tax on On Account receipt

09 October 2010 Dear sir,

Pls. guide how to calculate service tax on On account receipt i.e. we don't know against which bill we have received the payment(this payment may be against old bill pertaiining to Dec 2008 when the service tax rate is different.

09 October 2010 Seems this is a hypothetical situation. However,to my understanding,there is no hard and fast rules to sort out the issue. The service provider can try FIFO method among others.
