Service tax if not charged by transporter is required to be deducted and paid by receiver of services.
If the service tax has not been deducted and paid by the receiver of services then it has to be paid alongwith interest now.
What is the rate of service tax applicable if it has to be deposited now.
What is the rate of interest for late payment and how it is calculated.
i will be obliged if u can let me know in detail.

Service tax is payable on Freight amount. The rate of service tax would be 10.3% (there is an abatement on value of taxable services i.e 75% of servcie tax is available if you have not taken CENVAT credit, etc). If service tax is not paid with in the time limit then the rate of interest would be 13%per annum. The caluclation would be number of days delaid into 13%/365 into the service tax amount.
