03 August 2012 Service tax ia applicable on freight charged by a Goods Transport Agency.

Moreover reverse charge is applicable in this case and the service recipient is liable to deposit the tax.

03 August 2012 The onus of payment of service tax is now shifted from GTA (individual, firm) to service receiver under reverse charge and hence it cannot be collected and only payable by the SR.
