i'm a ex-servicemen, i'm receiving my pension from central Govt, i want to know how arrears are treated when it comes in lumpsum for many yrs in a single F.Y.

Arrears can be spread over to the relevant previous years and tax relief can be claimed u/ 89(1) of the Income tax Act,1961.
