salary income

This query is : Resolved

20 September 2009 Basis of Charge for Salary Income Says Salary either Salary received or due. Even for arrears it says either arrears due or received. You know the government has allowed 40% arrears in the year 2008-09 and 60% arrears in the year 2009-10. Can I include the arrears of 40% (due but not received) in the total income for the year 2008-09 and claim 89 relief.

21 September 2009 yup you can include but 89(1) asks relief to be claimed on receipt basis , as discussed earlier

21 September 2009 Well i dont think so. Govt had issue some notification that the DA which is now being paid will be taxed on receipt basis.

40% DA will be taxed in the year of receipt only. SO include that DA in next year return only
