Revenue stamp on cash voucher

This query is : Resolved

05 July 2013 Why it is mandatory to stick revenue stamp on cash payment of Rs.5000 & above on voucher???????

05 July 2013 it is a good idea to put a revenue stamp of a payment receipt .. as once you have a revenue stamp with cross signatures on the reciept then it can not be challenged in the court of law.

The basic purpose of the revenue stamp is to give a legal identification to the document even on the plain paper. Revenue stamp has got more uses than just the payment vouchers.

Let us say you sell your vehicle to a third party and you can make a sale and purchase receipt on plain paper and affix a revenue stamp on it, so it will now be accepted in court of law. Hope it helps
