dear sir,
please provide me the details about the revenue stamp of Re. 1 to be affixed on receipts involving amount more than Rs.5000.00.
what is penalty for non- affixing the revenue stamp of Re. 1?

There is no penalty for non affix of revenue stamp however voucher/documents without revenue stamp will not be recogised in court as evidence of payment if there is any dispute regarding payment.

Agreed with Chandra Kishore with an addition that any document may be legalised by affixing rvenue stamp and cancelling it.

There is no need to affix revenue stamp if it is crossed account payee cheque
