Return filed u/s 139(4)

One of my assessee filed return u/s 139 (4) .i.e ; after due date. He inadvertently did not show the capital gain tax in the return. Now he wants to voluntarily show the capital gain in the return , so that the concealment proceedings u/s 271(1)(c) can be nullified. Please tell me the remedy with proper citation .

It is advisable to file revised return after taking into consideration of Capital Gain.I donot have proper citation ready available.
