Dear Sir, I got IT Intimation u/s 143(1) dated 30-03-2010 for AY 2008-09, which shows the net tax payable.
On analysing my manually filed return, I found a mistake (I missed to mention Section 111A for my Short term gains, on which STT was paid). As a result the tax calculation has gone up.
Can I revise (e-file) my return for AY 2008-09 now? I missed to do so earlier. The order date is March 2010

Dear Expert(s), Thanks for your prompt response. Can I rectify the return electronically for AY 2008-09 against the intimation u/s 143(1) dated 30-03-2010?

You cannot revise your return for AY 2008-09 now since the time limit for revising (usually within the relevant assessment year or before completion of assessment) has expired.
However, you can file a rectification application under Section 154 of the Income Tax Act to correct the mistake related to omission of Section 111A (STT-paid short-term capital gains) in your originally filed return.
Key points on Section 154 rectification: It can be filed electronically on the Income Tax e-filing portal.
It should specifically mention the mistake (like omission of section 111A income and claim of relief).
The rectification can only be filed after you have received the intimation under section 143(1).
The rectification request should be filed within 4 years from the end of the relevant financial year in which the order sought to be amended was passed.
Steps for filing rectification electronically: Login to the e-filing portal.
Go to ‘e-File’ > ‘Rectification’.
Select the relevant AY (2008-09).
Select the reason as “Claim of deduction/relief not allowed / Mistake apparent from record”.
Attach the details/explanation mentioning you omitted declaring short-term capital gains under Section 111A.
