(IN HRA EXUMPTION) EMPLOYEES ARE GIVING MORE THAN RENT PAID RS.3000/- RENT RECEIPTES AND NOT GIVING RENT AGREEMENT AND OUR C.A. SAY THAT THERE ARE NOW CIRCULAR AND LAW WHICH SAY THAT MORE THAN 3000 RENT PAID RENT AGREEMENT REQUIRED IT IS K PLEASE CONFIRM......

Latest circular on deduction from salaries during the F.Y.2020-11 is No.8/2010 dated 13/12/2010 which is available in www.incometaxindia.gov.in. Clause 5.2(9) speaks about HRA which does not contain a stipulation to produce rent agreement but says that"the disbursing authorities should satisfy themselves in this regard by insisting on production of evidence of actual payment of rent before excluding the HRA or any portion thereof from the total income of the employee" so however that, for administrative measure, salaried employees drawing HRA up to 3,000/- per month will be exempted from production of rent receipt.
