Refund Cheque From IT - Not Deposited

22 March 2011 I got refund cheque from Income Tax Department for Rs.4,150/- for the AY 2010-11 from CPC Bangalore. But I forget to deposit the cheque for collection and the validity of the cheque is over and my bankers rejected the cheque. Is there any procedure to re-validate the cheque? What's the procedure?

22 March 2011 i) Send a letter to CMP, State Bank of India at SBIFAST 31, Mahal Industrial Estate, Off Mahakali Caves Road, Andheri East, Mumbai - 400 093, Phone Number: 18004259760. The refund cheque received may also be returned with this letter.

ii) Send a copy of the above letter to your Assessing Officer.

iii) Retain a copy of the refund cheque and the letter referred above with you.
