Regarding your query on refund of Rs. 6000 paid for conversion from PE-II to IPCC after ICAI’s announcement allowing PE-II students to appear in exams — here’s a summary and advice:
ICAI’s official stance: Generally, ICAI does not provide refunds on conversion fees once paid, as per their existing rules and terms. The fee is considered non-refundable. Reason: Conversion fees are administrative and related to registration status change, not exam fees. Hence, refunds on such fees are usually not allowed even if exam eligibility changes later. About fee reduction or adjustment: While refund may not be allowed, you can try requesting ICAI for some concession or adjustment in future fees, like final registration fees, explaining your case. What you can do: Write a formal representation to ICAI’s regional office or central office, explaining your situation and hardship. Check ICAI announcements or circulars regularly for any concession schemes or updates. Contact ICAI student support helpline for guidance. For unemployed students: Sometimes ICAI provides concessions or scholarships — check eligibility. Summary: Refund on conversion fee is generally not allowed. Your best bet is to seek fee concession or support for future registrations.
