rectification of IT Return

One of my friends has received intimation u/s 143(1) for a.y. 2010-11. Return was e-filed by some tax consultant and due to mistake in depreciation block intimation shows tax payable. I have uploaded rectification request two month ago and generated receipt for the same, now in rectification status it shows rectification receipt only. My friend has not received any rejection letter or order u/s 154 by post or e-mail till date. Can anybody help me what step should I take next?

The rectification filed by you is yet to be processed and therefore you should wait for the same

Has the rectification receipt generated been sent physically to CPC ?

What to do after filing rectification u/s 154?
Since the rectification request has been filed and you have the rectification receipt, it means the Income Tax Department has acknowledged the request.
The status showing only “rectification receipt” means the rectification is still pending processing at CPC (Centralized Processing Centre).
You don’t need to physically send the rectification receipt anywhere. Filing it online generates the receipt automatically, which acts as proof of submission.
How long to wait?
Typically, CPC takes 1 to 3 months (sometimes longer) to process rectification requests, depending on workload.
If no response comes after 3 months, you can consider:
Following up with CPC through their grievance redressal system.
Contacting the Income Tax helpdesk.
Visiting the local Assessing Officer (if needed).
What if no response after a long time?
You can send a reminder letter or call CPC.
Keep all receipts and communications safely.
No need to file a fresh rectification or revise return unless instructed.
