I have joined a new job recently. I joined the new job before serving the complete notice period with my last employer. So as per the terms of employment I had to pay the gross salary for the un-served duration to my last employer. My new employer had agreed upon to reimburse the same amount after my joining(called as notice period buy out).But I observed that a TDS has been deducted on the reimbursed amount by my new employer. That means I paid tax twice for the same amount, once while getting it as salary from my old employer and next time claiming it from the new employer. Is there anyway I can claim the tax return from the IT department ? I would like to mention here that my old employer has not mentioned any where in the form 16 that I have paid any amount to him.
