Quoting of pan for certain transactions

Quoting PAN is mandatory for cash deposits exceeding Rs 50,000/-.My query is whether PAN of payee(i.e in whose accounts money is deposited) or depositor is to be quoted?????I believe intention of legislature is to track depositor and not payee bcoz payee's PAN is already with bank.Please clarify with reasons...

Depositor's PAN has to be quoted.
