16 July 2011 can the assessment order u/s 143(3)/144 and notice of demand u/s 156 be sent to the assesse after the expiration of the period stipulated u/s153 for completion of assessment??

16 July 2011 Service is not material the completion of assessment is material and accordingly it can be served after expiry of the period as mentioned u/s 153. If you want to go in appeal still you get 1 month's time and your rights are not challanged. For payment of taxes also you will be allowed 35 days time and no interest u/s 220(2) can be charged from you.

Section 220(1) says 30 days. 35 days was substituted to 30 by DTL(Amend)Act,1987. Pl answer to the question and avoid unwanted wrong answers.
