Provident fund not yet transfered- Pls advice.

Hi,
My friend is working in a software com[pany. he joined the present company 3 years back.At that time he did not get his PF transferred form the previous software company where he was working. But 7 months back he applied in his present company to get the 1st company's PF transefered to this company. Its been more than 6 months now, but nothing has moved. when he approaches the old software company to move his file, they dont entertain him as he is a exemployee. the present company finance dept says the transfereor( old software company) company is not responding & that he needs to wait. He doesnt know what is happening.Does he have any other method of getting it transfered from the old company to the new company. He has also approached the PF head office. they say the company should follow up. He cannot do anything. Please advice how to get his PF transfered or withdrawn.We have tried everything that we could do & he is loosing patience now.Pls advice.

well, the employee shoould have the balance known in the pf account and also the pf account no. than ask the current company to deposit the amount in the same and ask PF head office to send a notice to the old company.
