Professional tax

This query is : Resolved

09 December 2014 An employee of a company is engaged in the state of A. The head office of the company is in state B and the payroll is prepared in the state B and credited to the bank a/c of the employee engaged in state A. The head office deducts the professional tax from the salary of the said employee.

Please inform which state A or B should get the professional tax and why ?

In my opinion, state A should get it because the employment is in state A and the person is providing service in state A.

10 December 2014 usually it is the state in which the employees work and the registered office of company is situated needs to get the registartaion done and usually the profession tax act as applicable states this.
