Agree with Ravi-Ramesh.
But don't link the earning with your career (it is my opinion).
I here quote a very renowned Late D M Harish (CA and Author of Commentary on Income-Tax) :
"After 30 years of experience as practising income-tax consultant, now I feel that I have wasted major part of my life in litigation !
After publication of this commentary; he expired after 3 years.
My dear; if you wish to enjoy your life; do only that which you like.
After "acquiring" a good home and car; the value of money is very nominal - the law of diminishing return !
Once you choose a wrong line in your career; it would be very difficult to change it.
So far auditing has remained out of reach of many chartered accountants due to year ending work in most of the cases.
Big audits fate is decided on the basis of empanelment which further is decided on the basis of size of chartered accountancy firm and its experience.
After introduction of IFRS; scenario may change.
After introduction of new Direct Tax Law; scenario may change.
After introduction of Goods and Service Tax; scenario may change.
Think for long term and not for short term because we have to remain in the profession for a very long period.
(I feel sorry if you find the answer altogether different from the line of question asked).
