penalty on nil return

plz tell me, if i filed NIL return of service tax after due date, there are any penalty? if there is any notification about this plz plz send me link.

Rule 7C of the Service Tax Rules,1994 says about fee for late filing of service tax return. It is Rs.500/ to Rs.2000/- depending on the period of delay. However, in case of NIL return the department has authority to waive the late fee vide 3rd proviso to the said rule.
