Penalty for late filing of ST-3:
upto 15 days - Rs 500/-
15 - 30 days - Rs 1000/-
beyond 30 days - Rs 1000/- plus Rs 100/- per day from 31st day till date of filing.
Is this applicable even if nil returns are filed??
then, wont the penalty exceed tax amount (NIL) !!!
please do clarify..

even NIL return is there then also penalty is applicable, ,but superintendent can waive off the penalty by seeing proper reason and regarding ur penalty this limit also increased....... now penalty not limit only to 2000rs.

is the above slab applicable for FY 2010-11???
for the half year ending 31.03.2011, nil returns are not filed. The firm is no more a going concern.. Even then will the penalty be imposed??
wat if the Service tax dept is well informed that the firm has closed its operations... any change in the imposition of penalty??
