Pan card application form 49a query

01 August 2012 Hi Experts,
I wish to apply PAN card online for my sibling who is pursuing her studies and does not have any source of income as such.
In PAN 49A, I am not sure what should be entered for point number 13-
a) Are you salaried employee?
b)If you are engaged in business/profession...relevant code?
c)If not covered by a & b above indicate source of Income?
From what I understand, i believe option c with "No Income" will have to be selected.

Please clarify/guide.

02 August 2012 Hello Sir, many thanks for your guidance. I am having one more question here which is considering future perspective, my sibling may not be earning today when I apply for PAN card but if in near future if he/she becomes a salaried employee, then do I have to take any corrective action? As in that case the Info provided in form 49A wont be correct. If you could please throw some light.

03 August 2012 Presently student, so you can mention as No Income. but giving source of Income in the PAN application doesnot have any impact on your future prospects. Income tax does not seek as what will be your future income, in case in future you have different source of Income,you can mention in that particular year and calculate tax accordingly. no applying PAN, just give an present status. that does not give any future problem to applicant on their source of Income.
