Only salary income - itr for a.y.10-11 not file, notice ?

18 July 2012 Hello everyone,

following is the particluars of income of one of my client Mrs.X femal and non senionr citizen.

income from salary 250000
less: dedn u/c vi-a 80000
total income 170000

in this month she received notice to appear before the income tax dept since she has failed to file ITR for a.y. 10-11.

what can be the consequences and what else the office can ask for ?

18 July 2012 AS the salary is above threshold limit for TDS, so the tds have been applied and form 16 was in hand,

produce the form 16 to department as it may have NIL tax liability, so the department would not insist to file the return admitting the values in form 16

however if income from other sources are there, then u have to look into the same and then pray for permission to submit belated return.
