one of my friend has received a notice from the cpc that he has to pay tax for 2012-13 AY for Rs.114000 who was already paid the tax, so he came to me and i verified the data and i found that there is a mistake in TAN NUMBER which is already filed last year,, so now can you please tell me that how to rectify .. please exlain me the procedure to file the rectified return

File a revised return after correcting the mistake. Procedure to file recise return is same just when u file AY2012-13 return again u should select return filed u/s 139(5) which is the section for revise return and post the copy of revised return to cpc within 120 days of filling revised online return. CPC will get this and will revert u back.
