Issue of double pan card

hi
i have lost some time ago my pan card which is issued by deptt 8 yrs back. so deptt letter issued along with pan is not available. this pan i have used in some places like on bank, LIC etc. i have applied recently a new pan card and that new one is received by me recently. a letter is also issued along with this new pan card mentioned here allotting more than once pan card liable to penalty or punishment or both. so i am worried after knowing this what i can do now. i have a duplicate(Xerox) copy of old pan card along with FIR copy filled on that time.

Prabhat, have you checked that whether your old PAN is in Existing or not, with IT website? If it is in existing state, obtaining of another PAN is offence. So you may apply for correction PAN for old PAN number,the same application you may surrender your new PAN Number also. Then no issues. But dont use your new PAN to any purposes.
