Indemnity Bond

This query is : Resolved

05 December 2008 I have an NRI Client based in London. He has misplaced his original TDS Certificate and hence obtained duplicate TDS from the deductor. My query is:

1) Whether the Indemnity Bond needs only to be signed by the Assessee or does it need to be notarised?

2) If notarisation is required how do we go about it as the Assessee is based in London?

05 December 2008 1.Indemnity bond need not be notarized. But when I represented for an assessee in Kerala the ITO insisted for notarization. I did just to cooperate.
2.If your ITO is insisting get it attested at embassy at London.
