Does income tax filing is compulsory for a person whose income from salary amounts to 240000/-and fixed deposit made of Rs 200000/- ?

Tax filing not compulsory, Considering FD interest income is less than taxable limit. If Tds deducted on FD by filling return assasee can claim refund.
Better advice to file returns since there is investment in FD, Department wants to know source for Investment. So filing return helps show source if income.

not compulsory every time but if you file regularly return then it will give benefits to you when you forgot your data somewhere for that years for which you didn't file any return.
