I want to restart my studies for CA final after 3 years gap,now I can't refer coaching notes due to syllabus changes,pls guide how to start and when should I buy reference books if I am thinking to give exams in may 17

Firstly, note that there are couple of developments that is likely to impact for May 2017 Examination. The New Syllabus is likely to get rolled out and the talks are that it could be made applicable from May 2017 or November 2017 Examination onwards. The next important thing to note is for your Direct and Indirect Tax paper you will have to prepare provisions contained in Finance Act, 2016, which would hold good for both May and November 2017 examination.
Since, you have lost track of changes that has taken place, it is important that you pick ICAI materials first up and get to know the key changes that have happened. Later, you can refer any authors books to get more clarity and confidence by solving variety of problems. It is also important to lay your hands on institute's other publications as and when they get released applicable for May 2017 Examination like RTP, Recent case laws book. Supplementary book on amendments etc.
Get started with the latest books and later wherever need be slowly pick a reference book to get a conceptual clarity. Have a plan of action that is realistic and time bound. All the very best for your preparation.
