Housing Loan taken from a co-operative society is eligible for claiming interest under section 24 and repayment of instalments under section 80C. Please clarify as soon as possible.

30 July 2013 Such interest is eligible u/s 24(b) of the Income tax Act,1961.
But principal repayment is not eligible for deduction u/s 80C(2)(xviii) of the said act.
