17 June 2011 what are the provisions for filing of return for A.Y. 2011-12?

I have came to know that salaride persons having income not more than 5 lacs are not liable to file return. plz give some guidance regarding such provision & its applicability.
is this provision applicable for A.Y. 2011-2012 or from next A.Y.

further, i have income only under the head salary, than which itr form no. should i file? in previous year i hade filed return in ITR 2 but now i want to switch to ITR 1, is this possible ? & if yes than what's the procedure for that?

Salaried individuals having only salary income & bank interest income not more than 5 lacs, not required to File ITR - Applicable from AY 2012-13

Assessee having only Salary Income - ITR 1 is applicable.

Note: Usage of ITR depends upon the nature of income earned during relevant year for which ITR needs to be filed and it has nothing to do with the return type used for last year.
