If the assessee fails to appear before the assessing officer as on the time prescribed in the letter issued on him, but appears later on the same day, is it valid?

15 October 2013 No but you have to give genuine reason & Else your relation with officer can also help.

Just say sorry & try to see what he/she says.

If it works then its ok. If not then give letter with so called genuine reason to come out penalty.
