09 June 2011 Hi,
I am doing a project on export management.
I wanted to know about various documents like B/L, GR/SDF, DEPB, BRC etc. Can you please give me a flow as to when an export happens, what documents are needed/received in which order? And just a 1 liner explaining the importance.

09 June 2011 Bill of lading :-

A legal document between the shipper of a particular good and the carrier detailing the type, quantity and destination of the good being carried. The bill of lading also serves as a receipt of shipment when the good is delivered to the predetermined destination. This document must accompany the shipped goods, no matter the form of transportation, and must be signed by an authorized representative from the carrier, shipper and receiver.

is a EXCHANGE CONTROL DECLARATION (GR) FORM NO.ISSUED BY BANKER / RBI .

ABOUT DEPB:-

Duty Entitlement Pass Book Scheme in short DEPB is an export incentive scheme. Notified on 1/4/1997, the DEPB Scheme consisted of (a) Post-export DEPB and (b) Pre-export DEPB. The pre-export DEPB scheme was abolished w.e.f. 1/4/2000. Under the post-export DEPB, which is issued after exports, the exporter is given a duty entitlement Pass Book Scheme at a pre-determined credit on the FOB value. The DEPB rates is allows import of any items except the items which are otherwise restricted for imports. Items such as Gold Nibs, Gold Pen, Gold watches etc. though covered under the generic description of writing instruments, components of writing instruments and watches are thus not eligible for benefit under the DEPB scheme.

09 June 2011 Thanks for your prompt reply sir.
Can you please give me a flow. Eg. when you export, you get B/L... you give bank so and so documents... bank gives you something etc etc and finally i think the last stage is applying for depb.
