Error in return filing

29 December 2011 Dear Sir,
I had filed one of the returns in which assessee was liable to audit but by mistake i had selected no under the option for audit however all the details pertaining to audit report have been adequately filled.Subsequently in intimation u/s143(1), tax is payable because of interest u/s 234A, which should rightly not arrive because return is filed before due date.

Now how can I rectify the same ?

Will intimation u/s 143(1) showing tax demand be treated as completion of assessment ?

Pls guide

30 December 2011 You will have to submit an online rectification request.

Further, intimation u/s 143(1) is not an assessment order, as Section 143(1) is not assessment of return but PROCESSING of return.

So, issue of intimation u/s 143(1) does not mean completion of assessment.

I suppose, you are asking this question from revise return point of view.

There is no need to revise the return, just file a rectification request.
