Double filing of return

11 December 2011 If someone filed same return manually and e-filing for same Assessment year by mistake, is there any way to get back the manually filed return? if not, what are the consequences and available procedure to rectify such mistake.

11 December 2011 Unless there is any changes withe the return filed with the previous one, there will be an intimation from CPC. In other words, if you have any changes with the return filed by you later, there will be an intimation from CPC

11 December 2011 if there are no changes, the IT department will consider it under as one return filed within the due date.

i would also like to know that If an intimation is received, how to reply to it and what is the procedure for it? and withing what period can such intimation expected to be received? can minor changes, like rupee difference etc, be taken into count by the department?

26 December 2011 After getting Intimation you can file rectification U/S 154. you can not file revised return or ant other type of return. In rectification you can rectify your mistakes.
