Whether director is an employee in company?

for the purpose of provident fund and professional tax act?

According to me director is an employee of the company, subject to the terms of contract entered with the company.

Well this is my general understanding. Wait for other expert opinions.

26 August 2010 Directors,as such are not employees or servants of the company. But where a director,besides being a director, is also in the service or employment of the company viz., as secretary, manager, accountant or otherwise, he/she will be treated as employee. However, a managing director or whole time director holds such a double role.
