Yes...
According to me director is an employee of the company, subject to the terms of contract entered with the company.
Well this is my general understanding. Wait for other expert opinions.

Directors,as such are not employees or servants of the company. But where a director,besides being a director, is also in the service or employment of the company viz., as secretary, manager, accountant or otherwise, he/she will be treated as employee. However, a managing director or whole time director holds such a double role.
