15 October 2010 is there any difference between assessable value and value of excisable goods.

thanks in advance

18 October 2010 I do not think so. How has the doubt arisen?

18 October 2010 when we have been given price which is inclusive of ED.also the price was considering the some item of which deduction is allowed(Like trade discount)

now if we have to calculate AV
then we will calculate by-
1.deduct TD from price=say we got "a"
2."a"*100/100+rate of duty

so my question is this why we calculate in this manner.
why we dont follow this way-

1.price*100/100+rate of duty (say got 'a')
2."a"-trade discount

26 October 2010 There is no relation between trade discount and assessable value. assessble value is calculted as per various norms. You may give or may not give discount, or sale on various rates, nothing matter.
