we are willing to use a trade name (separate from our legal name) in GST registration(via amendment) what kind of supporting document can we produce for the same??

✅ Acceptable Supporting Documents for Trade Name in GST:
GST law does not mandate a specific document for trade name changes, but based on practice and GST portal guidance, you can provide:
1. Trade Name Usage Proof (any one or more of the following):
Document Purpose
🧾 Invoice or Bill Showing business conducted under the trade name
📄 Bank Account Statement or Cheque Book With trade name printed
📜 Shop Act License / Municipal License In the trade name
📠 Trade License / MSME Certificate With trade name mentioned
🧾 Letterhead, Visiting Card, or Brochure Preferably with GSTIN
🌐 Domain registration / Website Screenshot Showing trade name use in business
📄 Declaration / Affidavit On stamp paper (optional in most cases) declaring intent to use the trade name for business
📌 How to File the Amendment:
Log into GST portal
Go to: Services → Registration → Amendment of Registration (Non-core Fields)
In the Business Details tab, update the Trade Name field
Upload relevant supporting documents
Submit using DSC / EVC
⚠️ Notes:
Legal Name and Trade Name can be different; GST portal allows this.
Ensure the trade name does not violate trademark rights of others.
Once approved, the new trade name will appear on the GST certificate.
