10 March 2012 would it be correct to say that there are two kinds of sales tax in india-cst and local sales tax (now vat )...also please define cst (central sales tax )

Yes,there are two kinds of Sales tax.One i.e.local,governed by VAT law of each state and another Interstate by the Central govt law. CST comes into effect when a transaction of sale results in movement of goods from one state to another....MJK
